Board meeting notes from May 11th meeting:
The five board members met on May 11th to discuss activities and the events that the Pickleball club had scheduled for the spring, summer and early fall. We all can agree that COVID 19 has brought about changes that none of us could have anticipated or understood. However, we now move through this time with consideration for safety and health of all and living with certain restrictions.
With that said, after discussion at our May 11 board meeting all officers agreed that planned large group activities will be cancelled for this summer. These include: Wednesday and Saturday Ladder Leagues, Spring General Meeting and Learn to Play Clinics.
Scheduled three-hour morning OPEN PLAY may not be possible as offered previously. More communication will be shared as we understand Canadian Lakes’ Boards requirements. It may have to be that pickleball play happens by members organizing their own playing times. Again, communication will be shared as we hear when and if the courts are opened.
The club will be purchasing two large hand sanitizer dispensers for the courts along with 200 Franklin balls that will be available for member to use once we are able to begin play again. We intend to also have a spray bottle with a diluted Clorox blend for use on balls if players choose to use it to sanitize balls.
Membership dues-Since we have been unable to play, we determined that it makes sense to move scheduled due date payments out by a couple of months. Tambi Zaun will send a reminder to members as she has in the past to inform when their payment is due. Example: April dues will be moved to June payment, May to July and forward. Please submit dues if you haven’t for communication Tambi sent previously if you haven’t already done so. If you have any questions about your dues please contact Tambi Zaun at firstname.lastname@example.org
2021 Canadian Lakes Tournament dates-Our 2021 tournament has been moved to the weekend of July 23rd-July 25, 2021. Marilyn, who ran our tournament last year, was unavailable the following weekend. The dates will be posted on pickleballtournaments.com
Hixson’s receipts-Hixson’s supports our club in giving a percentage of money back of totals on receipts. PLEASE save them, no matter how little or big the amount, and turn them into the club once we are back at the courts. We’ll have a container for them. Thank you to everyone who has already been doing this.
Court resurfacing-We currently don’t have specific dates for courts to be resurfaced. Mark Zaun will provide direct oversite of the project once it begins. Hopefully, we’ll have something to share about their start date before too long. Racquet Sports is the company contracted for the project.
CONSIDER taking a lead on our BOARD-Three board members’ terms are up this year, and that means three positions will be open. One position can be held by a non-Canadian Lakes member, so everyone is invited to run. Specific board positions are determined at the first meeting following the vote on our August 24, 2020 general meeting. Please put August 24th on your calendars to attend this meeting. This is your chance to represent your club and have a voice. Dave Baker and Nancy Henderson will continue on the board for another year. Tambi Zaun, Laurie Moore and Jo Preston’s terms end on August 24th. This is a great opportunity for you. Please share if you are interested with any board member. Their address is included at the top of the email page.
